CAE Tech Talk: Massive-Scale Streaming Analytics on April 30th
Posted on 08 Apr 2015 3:15 PM

Mark your calendars and come join your friends in the CAE community for a CAE Tech Talk. We are a warm and inviting group of people that like to share technical knowledge. There is no need to travel as CAE Tech Talks are conducted in real-time over the Internet. You can attend from just about anywhere (your office, home, etc.) The presentation along with questions and answers will be conducted live in real-time using VOIP and chat. There is no software to download to your computer as Capitol Technology University will be hosting the presentation using their online delivery platform (Adobe Connect). Just log in and enjoy the presentation. Below is a description of the presentation along with the logistics of attendance.

Topic: Massive-Scale Streaming Analytics
Presenter: Dr. David Bader from Georgia Tech
Date: Thursday 30 April 2015
Time: 1pm – 2pm EST
Location: https://capitol.adobeconnect.com/cae_tech_talk/

Just log in as Guest and enter your name. No password required.

Audience Skill Level: All levels
Description: Emerging real-world graph problems include: detecting community structure in large social networks; improving the resilience of the electric power grid; and detecting and preventing disease in human populations. Unlike traditional applications in computational science and engineering, solving these problems at scale often raises new challenges because of the sparsity and lack of locality in the data, the need for additional research on scalable algorithms and development of frameworks for solving these problems on high performance computers, and the need for improved models that also capture the noise and bias inherent in the torrential data streams. In this talk, the speaker will discuss the opportunities and challenges in massive data-intensive computing for applications in computational science and engineering.
