This CAE-CD Cyber Clinics and Educational Security Operations Centers (SOCs) Initiative is intended to support experiential and skills-focused cybersecurity education across CAE CD institutions by fostering the exchange of practices, models, and lessons learned related to operational learning environments. Initial areas of interest include cyber clinics, faculty guided student led educational Security Operations Centers (SOCs), and related experiential learning approaches that provide students with practice based cyber defense experiences within structured academic and workforce development pathways. Through collaboration and knowledge sharing, this initiative will promote discussion of operational models, implementation approaches, resources, and practices associated with practice based cybersecurity education, including ways these environments can help students develop and demonstrate applied competencies aligned with relevant Defense Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF) work roles and skills based hiring expectations. This initiative is designed to remain flexible so that, over time, it may also encompass additional experiential and operational learning approaches aligned with evolving workforce, competency based education, and skills based hiring interests across government, defense, critical infrastructure, and industry sectors. By emphasizing practice based learning environments that contribute to workforce readiness, competency evidence, and regional cyber defense capacity, this initiative is intended to complement existing CAE CD initiatives and support a clear, scalable return on mission for DoW and other stakeholders.
